-
We have outgrown all rooms in the current police department, and the evidence room, armory, locker room, and offices do not meet current standards of policing. No space to park cruisers under cover.
-
Safety and privacy are two major issues we face at our current location. We deal with many situations at the dept some create an unsafe environment which is not ideal when the town hall is open. In addition the lack of parking and privacy. Privacy is important to those wishing to report a crime and currently there is none.

When the department was first built it met the standard back then. As technology and policy changed we have struggled with keeping up with those standards. Specifically with our evidence storage, armory, training room, and locker rooms. Not meeting the standard for any of these can cause liability issues but also turnover in staff.
-
Officers are currently sharing two work stations for various patrol and investigative work. This slows down officer productivity but also strains officers when reports need to be completed in a timely fashion. Officers are also sharing desks and lockers. Not having enough space for officers to work but also to store their gear is a issue we cant solve in our current department.
-
A combined public safety complex lets our town do more with less. By sharing one site, we cut construction and land costs. It also makes us safer. Co-location means faster coordinated response to emergencies that involve both departments, accidents, fires, medical calls, active incidents.
